Whether you are planning to request an instant session or have scheduled an upcoming session, here are a few tips to help you get ready and make the most of your time with your Expert.
Keep an eye out for the confirmation
If you have submitted a scheduled session request, we will send you a confirmation via email to let you know when an Expert has accepted. You'll also see the session status update on your Hopps dashboard. In the event that no Experts are available for your requested time, we'll let you know so you can select a different time.
Add the session to your calendar
If you've scheduled your session for an upcoming time, be sure to add it to your calendar so you don't forget. If your plans change and you are no longer able to join a session at the time you had requested, please be considerate of the Expert's time and cancel the session in advance. To cancel, please return to your Hopps dashboard, locate the session in your upcoming sessions area, and click the cancel button to remove the schedule. If you would like to reschedule the session for a different time, please proceed with canceling the original session and submit a new session request.
Camera and microphone
Your Hopps session will occur via video chat within the Hopps platform. A microphone and speakers are required in order to talk to your Expert and you won't be able to join the session without them. At the start of your session, you will be prompted to select your audio and video devices. We recommended checking that your devices are connected and functioning properly in advance of your session.
Once you have joined your session, be sure that your microphone is unmuted and optionally enable your webcam by clicking the icons along the bottom of the video window.
Log in to any tools or platforms you plan to discuss during the session
You will have the opportunity to optionally share your screen during the session so that your Expert can take a look with you. Even if you don't share your screen, your Expert may ask you to verify settings or have questions for you about how something is set up. We suggest having your accounts open in another tab so you can quickly access them during the session to save you some time.
To access your session
When your scheduled session time arrives, you can access the session from your Hopps dashboard. Simply click on the session to enter and be connected with your Expert. Please try to arrive on time. The session will automatically end if you have not joined within 10 minutes and you will have to submit a new request.
Your Expert will also do their best to arrive promptly at the designated start time. Please allow a few minutes for them to join if you don't immediately see them when you enter the session.
